When you live in a close quarters with people, you tend to get pretty close with them. Marina and Kingston are the same age but not romantically linked at all. I would describe them as "bros". Kingston is the one she goes to if she wants to talk with an adult. I'm not sure how to describe their dynamic other than, if they had met in a different life, they'd probably still be friends. Not besties, but they'd hang out occasionally and give each other shit.
