What a relief! Marina's family wasn't home during Sulphur Tongue's visit! And their neighbours care about them...
I've probably said this before, but in Maritonia I didn't want to show anyone's parents in the comic. It was going to be like Peanuts where the adults were never seen from the head up. Marina's family might never get speaking roles in the main comic pages, but we will see them in the Chapter 3 epilogue (which is going to be a LONG one). As I've written more and more of the comic, we'll get to meet a lot of the guys' relatives.
It's probably not too spoilery to say that Marina's parents are quite religious. Her whole family is quite religious and they're very close, but Marina is the odd one out. She has one older brother who she isn't close with (he's much older than her). She actually had a pretty middle class upbringing but like Ivanhoe, she was rebellious and ended up working with some dangerous people.
We also get a taste of Sulphur Tongue's opinion of women! He's a raging misogynist and he doesn't hire women (unless, y'know)...
